The copper in a house's wiring starts as rock dug from the ground. Some of it may one day come from northwest Alaska. There, Trilogy Metals owns half of two deposits that nobody has mined yet. Bornite holds copper, and Arctic holds several metals together. Trilogy's partner, South32, owns the other half through a shared company called Ambler Metals. Trilogy sells nothing today. Its job is to pay its half of the exploration, studies and government permits needed before anyone decides whether to build a mine.
