When you switch on a light, the power may have come from a GE Vernova gas turbine (a large engine that burns gas to spin a generator). It may also have passed through one of its transformers (machines that change electricity's voltage). The company builds and maintains the heavy machines that make and move electricity, from gas, nuclear and hydro equipment to grid gear and wind turbines. Its customers are power producers and grid operators worldwide. Most pay it twice: once for the machine, then for decades of upkeep.
