Buying a used car can mean a weekend of dealer lots, test drives and paperwork. Carvana moves that onto a screen. American shoppers browse its website, take a virtual tour of each car, then buy and finance it online. A Carvana employee delivers the car on a branded truck, or the buyer collects it from one of the company's glass vending-machine towers. Carvana also buys cars from people. It owns the chain behind the screen. It buys cars, reconditions them (repairs and prepares them for resale) at its own sites and moves them through its own national delivery network.
