The steel rods inside a concrete bridge, a hospital floor or a highway may well have started life as a crushed car or a demolished building. Commercial Metals runs that journey. Its 41 scrapyards buy old metal from demolition firms, manufacturers, car salvagers and individuals. Its mills melt the scrap into steel. Its shops then cut and bend much of that steel into reinforcing bar (rebar) for builders. A smaller mill in Poland serves Europe. Since December 2025 it has also sold precast concrete, which is cast in a factory before it reaches the building site.
