Management expects organic sales growth of only 1% to 3% in fiscal year 2027 while absorbing a $1 billion after-tax hit from higher energy, transportation, and raw-material costs. This matters because flat demand limits how much price and volume can carry results, so if productivity savings cannot protect margins, weaker profit conversion leaves less cash for dividends and share repurchases.

In fiscal year 2026 organic sales grew 1% while organic volume was unchanged and pricing added 1%. Growth driven by price rather than more units sold raises the question of whether demand itself is healthy, because pricing alone cannot support sales indefinitely if shoppers resist further increases.
