A truck delivers a load, and the trucking firm, the carrier, sends a bill. Waiting weeks for payment is hard for a small fleet. Triumph Financial, a Dallas company working through TBK Bank, steps in. It buys the invoice for a little less than the amount on it and pays the carrier at once. This is factoring, and it is the heart of the business. Around it, Triumph runs a payments network linking carriers, shippers and freight brokers (middlemen who arrange loads). It also sells freight pricing data and runs bank branches whose deposits fund the chain.
