Oracle Corporation sells business applications, cloud computing infrastructure, software licenses and support to businesses, governments and other organizations. Cloud customers pay for access while Oracle hosts, updates and supports the service. Revenue is recognized over the contract period or as usage-based services are consumed. License customers purchase software they can deploy in Oracle Cloud or their own computing environment. These arrangements carry different responsibilities: cloud revenue requires Oracle to operate the computing capacity customers use. Oracle’s 2027 reporting year ends in May 2027; year and quarter labels follow that calendar.
Cloud revenue reached $11,607 million in the first quarter of 2027, versus $7,186 million a year earlier. Management attributed growth to customer purchases and renewals, with infrastructure contributing most of the constant-currency increase. Serving that demand requires capacity and ongoing delivery spending.
Oracle's consolidated were $28.5 billion in the first quarter of 2027, versus $8.5 billion a year earlier; the consolidated cash-flow statement does not allocate that spending to specific activities. Separately, operating cash was $23.1 billion in the first quarter of 2027 and included customer prepayments with a significant financing component. These remain distinct flows and do not establish returns on added infrastructure capacity.
