Picture a hotel where the lift from your room opens onto a casino floor, a shopping mall and restaurants. Las Vegas Sands runs places like that. In Macao it operates several, including The Venetian Macao, through Sands China, its majority-owned subsidiary; in Singapore it owns Marina Bay Sands. A guest who comes to play also sleeps, shops and eats on site, but the casino is the heart: the company earns mostly by keeping part of what customers bet.
