Lowe's Companies serves homeowners, renters, tradespeople, repair and remodel professionals, and property managers. Customers pay for products used in construction, maintenance, repair, remodeling, and decorating, including lumber and appliances. Revenue comes mainly from merchandise sold through stores and online channels. Installation services add a labor-and-coordination layer using independent contractors. Lowe's also serves larger professional customers through branches offering building-material distribution, design, and installation services.

In the second quarter of fiscal 2026, sales rose 8.3% year over year to $26.0 billion, while comparable sales increased only 0.2%. That gap indicates that acquisitions and other non-comparable activity contributed to reported growth. The business is therefore becoming larger, but the key question is whether the added scale becomes durable operating profit and cash.

Completed acquisitions of Foundation Building Materials and Artisan Design Group broadened Lowe's access to larger professional customers and contributed to roughly $10 billion of acquisition-led expansion. This makes the company worth understanding now because future results must show whether that expansion improves profit and cash conversion, rather than only increasing revenue.
