Advanced Micro Devices Inc designs processors and graphics chips for servers, artificial intelligence (AI), personal computers, gaming and specialized equipment. EPYC processors handle server computing; Instinct graphics processing units, or GPUs, serve demanding workloads including AI. AMD earns from product purchases, supported by software tools that let applications run on its hardware. Third-party manufacturers supply the chips. Sales must cover product costs and generate enough gross profit to fund development and the other costs of running the business.
Group reached 54% in the second quarter of 2026, versus 40% in the second quarter of 2025. Management primarily attributed the improvement to favorable product mix, including higher Data Center revenue, and the absence of prior-year export-control and related charges on Instinct MI308 products. The recovery combines a mix benefit with the disappearance of earlier charges; the whole improvement cannot be assumed permanent.
