AbbVie is a branded-medicines business. It earns revenue by discovering, making, and selling prescription therapies and medical aesthetics products to wholesalers, distributors, government agencies, hospitals, specialty pharmacies, retailers, and some physicians.

In the second quarter ended June 30, 2026, AbbVie reported $16.99 billion of worldwide net revenue. A few large products drive the portfolio, so newer medicines must grow as loss of exclusivity, when lower-priced rivals can enter, reduces older-product sales.

AbbVie reports one global business segment. A central research and supply chain group handles discovery, manufacturing, and supply, while commercial teams sell by geography or therapeutic area.

Its main business groups are immunology, neuroscience, oncology, aesthetics, eye care, and other key products. In the second quarter ended June 30, 2026, immunology produced $8.79 billion, led by Skyrizi and Rinvoq, and neuroscience produced $3.23 billion, led by Vraylar and Botox Therapeutic.

Management is prioritizing product renewal. AbbVie needs newer medicines to keep outrunning Humira's decline after cheaper competitors entered while it continues to fund internal research and deals for future medicines still in development.

That dependency is visible in the June 2026 agreement to acquire Apogee Therapeutics for about $10.9 billion and the March 2026 RemeGen license. The business view stays constructive if newer immunology and neuroscience products keep supporting growth while AbbVie funds its next wave of launches.
