Intel Corporation designs and supplies the computing chips inside personal computers, servers, and cloud and artificial-intelligence systems — processors, networking parts, and custom chips. Its customers are the companies that build finished computers, firms that design and make products for other brands, and cloud providers, reached through its own representatives and through distributors, resellers, and retailers. Unusually, Intel also runs its own factories, while many chip designers pay outside plants to manufacture for them. That factory arm, Intel Foundry, makes chips for Intel and is meant to make chips for outside companies too. Today the money comes from products, not from manufacturing for others.

In the second quarter of fiscal year 2026 Intel's revenue reached $16.1 billion, up 25% from a year earlier, with data-center and artificial-intelligence revenue up 59% to $6.3 billion and personal-computer chip revenue up 13% to $8.9 billion. The core business that many had doubted is generating strong demand again, and it is this product side that currently carries the whole company.

In April Intel paid $14.2 billion in cash to reacquire a 49% outside stake in its Ireland manufacturing operation, returning to full ownership. Full control lets it steer the factory strategy on its own terms, but the large payment raises the return that strategy must now earn before it is worthwhile.
